We say we worship but do we really worship God?
Growing up as a child we were taught to sing praises to God and understand His word. We were not taught how to worship God except by mouth. I grew up a Southern Baptist in Texas where we were taught service, God's word and singing praises unto Him. Many people today believe worship is singing praises to God but it truly much more than that. It is how we live our lives unto God in service to Him by helping others and meeting their needs. Back in the day when Jesus was teaching people about how to live their lives and that only through His way would we be able to be saved and redeemed back to God. Jesus Christ worshiped God by His life and actions.
Jesus Christ taught us that reaching out to others is the true act of worship. He told the story about a man that had been robbed and left for dead and how no one would stop and help him except for a Samaritan traveler. Not even the priests would reach out to this man in need. We see by the Samaritans example that Jesus Christ taught us that the act of kindness by the Samaritan was the true act of worship.
[Luk 10:33-34 KJV] 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion [on him],
34 And went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
We worship everyday not knowing it. What we do in our lives everyday is worship. Some worship cigarettes or alcohol or drugs or food or what ever takes up their time through out each day. If we are self involved then we worship ourselves. If you saw someone in need of help and it was within your ability (power) to do so then you were the one God chose to do something about it not wanting anything in return except for them to carry on the act of kindness so that God would be praised. This is God's news daily reaching out daily to show us how and what to do. Mother Teresa was also a great example. She gave her life to helping others. That was her act of worship which followed from Jesus
Christ till the day she died.
Acts of worship is not just faith and lifting hands, it's reaching out to others and meeting their need. Even spreading the Gospel is an act of worship. So think about what you do each day and ponder it and see if you truly know how to worship God. It is never to late to start unless just deny it.
Let God reach out to you and help you and show you His love to you which is also an act of worship. God's news daily is He saved and redeemed us if we would just believe it and live a life of worship to Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
